Scott started playing tennis at the age of seven, thanks to parents who were both passionate about the sport and enrolled him in it from a young age. Little did they know that tennis would become a lifelong passion—one that would continue long after his competitive days were over.
Having competed for much of his childhood, he developed and fostered countless life skills that extended far beyond the tennis court. For years, he woke up at 5:30 AM every morning to train. That routine instilled a level of discipline that he continue to carry into his daily life, whether in his studies, work, or any other pursuit.
Admittedly, he had a love-hate relationship with tennis for the longest time. While he loved the opportunity to travel and compete, the intensely competitive nature of the sport could also be stressful and frustrating.
Nevertheless, moments such as winning his first international tournament in Shenzhen made those difficult times worthwhile. It was the first time he truly believed that becoming a successful professional tennis player could be possible. Looking back, that victory became one of the stepping stones towards everything he has achieved since.
That win was a monumental moment in his life. It was one of the first times he had accomplished something that once seemed almost impossible. More importantly, it sparked a belief that anything he chose to pursue could be within reach, even if his path eventually changed.
While tennis did not ultimately take them down the professional route he had once imagined, it gave him something just as lasting: a love for the game that he has since carried into coaching.
Beyond the court, Scott is a tennis player turned law student, currently pursuing his law degree full-time. His years of competing at both national and international levels have shaped far more than his ability on the court, instilling in him the discipline, resilience, focus, and analytical mindset that he now carries into his studies and everyday life.
Today, his hope through coaching is to help others discover their own passion for tennis, whether they pursue the sport professionally or simply enjoy it recreationally. He also hope to pass on the knowledge, experience, and lessons that were once shared with them to the next generation of young players.
More than anything, tennis taught him that nothing is impossible. That is the lesson he most want to pass on.
Scott trained at Oz Tennis by Coach Jason Scivetti, where he rose to become the top-ranked player in his age group nationally, has since turned that foundation into coaching, while completing his law degree.
