Harris's journey in tennis began through family friends, despite tennis not being a widely popular sport in Malaysia back in 1997. His interest in the sport grew as he recognised the opportunity for self-discipline, independence, social activity, and athleticism.

In 1999, Harris's talent and dedication earned him an invitation for an I.T.F level 1 Traineeship. He further honed his skills and represented his state of Seremban from the age of 10 to 17, participating in national L.T.A.M tournaments and the Open Men's circuit across Malaysia. This allowed him to compete against international players from countries such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan.

In 2003, Harris participated in the L.T.A.M under 16's Talent I.D Coaching course and joined the tennis junior camp at the Duta Complex for skills development. He also represented his school team from 1999 to 2007, winning the M.S.S.N.S Championship title in 2002 and reaching the finals in the M.S.S.M in 2001 and 2006. As a member of the M.I.A.T University team in 2013 and 2014, Harris competed against other universities in Malaysia. He achieved the highest Malaysian National Junior ranking of 8th in L.T.A.M.

After enjoying several successful years as a player, Harris naturally transitioned to coaching.

He joined the Oz Tennis Team in 2015, where he became one of the primary coaches and focused on developing his coaching ability, communication skills, and technical knowledge. Over the years, Harris has introduced numerous players of all ages to the game, helping them have fun competing at club level and national events.

Harris's coaching experience includes working with several Malaysian National junior players, including Scott McNeill, who achieved the top rankings in Selangor and at the national level in various age groups.

Currently, Harris serves as a Resident Coach and conducts classes at The Club @ Bukit Utama and conducts classes at d'Tempat Country Club, the International School @ Parkcity, and Joykids International PreSchool.

His passion for tennis and dedication to coaching continue to inspire and develop players of all levels in Malaysia.
